To celebrate October and to whip our writing efforts into a productive fourth quarter frenzy, we are inviting everyone to join us on our Facebook page for a 24 Carrot Trick AND Treat Party. You don’t need a costume, but you do be a part of our 24 Carrot Facebook group. If you haven't joined yet, what are you waiting for? You'll get a weekly Facebook update every time we post a new blog or book pick! To join, just click the green "Join Our Facebook Group" button on your right. Or you can find us on Facebook at 24 Carrot Writing. Once you're a member of the 24 Carrot Writing Facebook group you can join the Trick AND Treat Party by sharing your favorite writing trick or tip, or your favorite October inspired children’s book. When you share, we will enter you in our October 31 drawing for one of 4 wonderful treats: a signed copy of Fish In a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt, a signed copy of Power Down, Little Robot by Anna Staniszewski, a signed copy of A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass, and a signed copy of The Sleepover, by Jen Malone. Come join our Trick AND Treat Party and let’s get ready to hit our writing goals for the year and earn our carrots.

I know we have lots of discussion being generated on tips at our 24 Carrot Writing Facebook page, but I thought I'd share my trick of the day here, too! Not only do I write 20 minutes a day no matter what, as Kelly Carey mentioned above, I set a timer! I think we're all wired for a challenge, and with a timer ticking, there is laser focus. Doesn't matter if it's writing or cleaning...a timer kicks me in gear!
